A family’s love is a powerful medicine and a strong source of courage.
Children with life threatening conditions need more than good medical care, they need their parents close by for comfort and reassurance. Parents also need a place to turn to for added strength and understanding from others in similar circumstances. Research shows that a family presence in the hospital helps children heal faster and cope better. The mission of Ronald McDonald House Wellington is to fulfill these needs so that children are given every possible chance to recover.
Ronald McDonald House Wellington provides a temporary, free, home-away-from-home for families of seriously ill children under the age of 21 every year. Our families come from all over New Zealand and all walks of life, for a host of different reasons and stay for anywhere between one night and one year.
